RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of the Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes a professional services contract to provide audio / visual services related to the systems upgrade of City Council Chambers.

                     The selected consultant team, WJHW, submitted a proposal to provide audio / visual design services for the renovation of A/V systems in the City Council Chambers for an amount of $52,800.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     On February 21, 2016, a request for qualifications (RFQ) was advertised for professional consulting services firms to perform typical and complete audio, visual and broadcasting design services for all City facilities, and initially for the renovation and upgrade of all such systems in the City Hall Council Chambers.

                     Several firms participated in the pre-submittal conference and one team submitted a Statement of Qualifications.

                     The firm of Wrightson, Johnson, Haddon & Williams, Inc. is the professional services consulting firm based in Carrollton, Texas that is being recommended to perform these services.

                     WJHW is a large, certified woman-owned firm offering state-of-the-art design services and consulting in acoustics & noise control, audio, visual, video & scoring displays, broadcast provisions & video production, theatre planning, lighting & rigging, distributed TV & satellite, video surveillance & access control and telecommunications structured cabling.

                     WJHW has provided services on a diverse range of project types, including professional sporting arenas and stadia, high-end performance arts, theatre and entertainment spaces, hospitality, health care facilities, data centers, student residential housing, student centers, libraries, educational learning and research centers, judicial, civic and municipal facilities, and worship spaces. They have successfully provided their services to a number of Dallas area municipalities. 

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The City Council Chambers A/V project will be financed with available monies from the balance in Fund 36, the PEG (public, educational and governmental) channel category.

                     The Resolution authorizes a professional services contract for audio / visual services, including potential changes to the scope of services, with WHJW for an amount not to exceed $65,000.
