RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the attached Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The Sonntag neighborhood/school park project was designed utilizing public input and an interest in addressing the recreational needs of the neighborhood and adjacent school.
• Park design concepts included several sustainability initiatives including water conservation, storm water management, and native plant vegetation.
• A total of seven bids were submitted and accepted.
• North Rock Construction, LLC submitted the lowest bid for the construction of the project (including add alternates 1,2,4,5, and 6) for an amount not to exceed $1,957,716.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• On March 17, 2015, the City Council approved a Resolution authorizing the Interim City Manager to execute a contract with North Rock Construction, LLC of Denton, Texas for the construction of Sonntag Neighborhood/School Park Project for an amount not to exceed $1,957,716.
• On March 17, 2015, the City Council also approved an Ordinance amending the Fiscal Year 2014-2015 Annual CIP Budget and amending the 2015-2019 Capital Improvements Program to provide funds for the Sonntag Neighborhood/School Park Project including the amount needed for the contract with North Rock Construction, LLC of Denton ($1,957,716) plus a 5% construction contingency ($101,460).
• The total funds approved by City Council for construction of Sonntag Neighborhood/School Park is $2,059,176.
• Approval of the attached Resolution will allow an increase to the North Rock Contract for construction up to the approved amount of $101,460.
• Staff does not anticipate use of the full amount of funds approved for the project.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The Sonntag Neighborhood/School Park Project (PK9140) is a FY14-15 Capital Improvements Project funded by General Obligation Bonds and Parkland Dedication Funds.
• Below is a breakdown of the revised contract amount available for North Rock Construction LLC including the bid award plus 5% construction contingency:
o Construction Contract $1,957,716
o Contingency (approx. 5%) $ 101,460
