RECOMMENDED PARK BOARD ACTION:
• Approval of the Recommendation.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The 2017 Visioning Master Plan identified Old Settlers Park as one that is in need of redevelopment and/or upgrades.
• The objective of this master plan is to renovate, unify and breathe new life into the park therefore the services will focus on a full redevelopment of the park.
• This agenda item will authorize a professional services contract with Schrickel Rollins/PSC, Inc., to provide landscape architectural and engineering services related to the design of the Old Settlers Park and Renovation Master Plan project in a contract amount of $69,500 and not to exceed $73,000.
• Scope of Services:
o Basic Master Plan Services $ 69,500.00
o Contingency $ 3,500.00
Total $ 73,000.00
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• SRA/PSC was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on June 18, 2019.
• The 26 acre signature park houses Old Settlers Recreation Center (1996 and expanded in 2005, currently under renovations, Old Settlers Aquatic Facility (2003), Barney & Me Boxing Gym (2001), and Mouzon Ball Fields (1960 and renovated 2004). Other features include multi-use sport court, pavilion, picnic and playground areas.
• Old Settlers Park is located at 1201 E Lousiana St. in the Mill District, which is in close proximity to downtown.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The Old Settlers Aquatic and Park Renovation Project (PK2041) is a FY19-20 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds in an amount of $1,500,000. The final budget is to be determined and will be funded using 2019 authorized bonds.
• The Resolution will authorize a professional services contract for landscape architectural and engineering services, with Schrickel Rollins/PSC, Inc. in an amount of $69,500.
