RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• DCBA is currently under contract to design the conversion of the four northeastern fields to turf, constructing a restroom building, improving fencing, adding shade for participants and spectators and adding pedestrian connectivity.
• This agenda item will authorize a contract amendment to increase their scope to also include the renovation of two additional fields. Once completed half of the fields at this complex will have been converted to turf which greatly increases the playability.
• This contract amendment is in the amount of $163,523. This will increase the current total design contract to $542,277 as well as increase the not to exceed amount to $550,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• DCBA was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on June 18, 2019.
• The 65 acre soccer complex was constructed in 2005 and includes 13 lit fields (one championship field), 900 parking spaces, concession building with restrooms and an irrigation pond.
• DCBA recently completed a master plan for the overall complex.
• McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch is located at 6372 Collin McKinney Parkway.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• This project (PK1906) is a FY21-25 Capital Improvements Program funded by Parkland Dedication Funds Zone 3 and Bonds.
• The Resolution will authorize a professional services contract for landscape architectural and engineering services, with DCBA Landscape Architecture.
• Upon approval of this item, $3,274,397 remains in the project.
PARK BOARD RECOMMENDATION:
• On July 8, 2021, the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Advisory Board recommended to City Council approval of the design contract.
