RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes a contract with Jim Bowman Construction Company, L.P., (Bowman) for the reconstruction of multiple barrier free ramps and associated work within the Canyon Estates and Stone Canyon subdivisions bounded generally by Hillsdale Drive and Eldorado Parkway, for an amount not to exceed $170,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Cross Engineering Consultants designed the Hillsdale Drive portion of the project.
• On April 25, 2013, one proposal was received in response to the RFP for this project and the selection committee recommends the award of the contract to Bowman, based on the following:
- Bowman’s bid is below the engineer’s opinion of probable cost.
- Bowman has demonstrated the ability to construct barrier free ramps in conformance with ADA requirements.
- Bowman has completed projects for the City over the past several years
• The base bid includes all items associated with reconstructing barrier free ramps along with sidewalks, hike & bike trails, alleyway entrances, and one street intersection to improve pedestrian functionality.
• Bowman has adequately complied with all requirements of the bid specifications and references were satisfactorily verified in accordance with the contract documents and specifications.
• The time allowed in the contract places the final completion on October 3, 2013.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
• None.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes a contract and any required change orders with Jim Bowman Construction Company, L.P., for an amount not to exceed $170,000.
• Funds are available for this contract in the Capital Improvements Program ST2236 ($136,000) and ST3225 ($34,000).
