RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

ยท The Arts Commission is recommending that $21,600 or 11.7% of the approved $185,000 go toward items outside of the grant process.
- $2,500 is recommended to provide the final payment of the Arts and Economic Prosperity Survey IV that was approved in Fiscal Year 2011.
- $12,000 is being recommended to go toward public art once the public art Master plan is completed. The Arts Commission proposes to match this level of funding, if approved, through fundraising efforts.
- $3,600 is being recommended to provide a membership and two participants into the Collin County Business Council for the Arts.
- $3,000 is being recommended for the Arts commission to provide possible funding to groups that do not participate in the grant process, but would contribute to growing and promoting art in McKinney.
- $500 is being recommended for reproduction materials related to promoting the arts in McKinney (ex. Public art brochures).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
- Council appointed commission members and approved funding guidelines for Arts projects in 2005.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
- The Approved Fiscal Year 2013 Budget includes $185,000 for grants to the Art Community
BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
- The Arts Commission recommends accepting the grant applications and awarding monies as outlined in the attached resolution.
