ITEM SUMMARY:
• On November 13, 2015, Miles Prestemon, COO of Craig Ranch, submitted via email a request for naming a dog park currently being constructed in Craig Ranch.
• A copy of the Dog Park concept plan is attached.
• The park is currently under construction with a scheduled completion date of January - February 2016.
• The park design, construction and maintenance are provided by Craig Ranch.
• The park will be a permanent City park.
• Two names were submitted by Mr. Prestemon for the PROS Board and City Council consideration; K9 Corral and Canine Corner.
• Based on a 380 Agreement between the City and Craig Ranch, “naming of the park shall be subject to the rules and ordinances of the City”.
• The Interim City Manager solicited names from the City Council for PROS Board consideration.
• A copy of the Municipal Facility Naming Policy is attached: 2014-01-008(R).
• A copy of the duties of the PROS Board’s role in naming parks is also attached.
• The PROS Board considered names submitted by Mr. Prestemon and recommends the following for City Council consideration:
o K9 Corner at Craig Ranch
o K9 Corral at Craig Ranch
o K9 Corral Park, or
o K9 Park.
• Miles Prestemon was notified of the PROS Board recommendations and recommends the City Council approve “K9 Corral at Craig Ranch”.
• Staff is supportive of this recommendation.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Policy allows the PROS Board to make a recommendation to the City Council regarding naming of park facilities.
• Criteria included in the attached naming policy were taken into consideration by the PROS Board before submitting names to the City Council.
• Names recommended by Craig Ranch were also taken into consideration by the PROS Board.
• Craig Ranch representatives, the PROS Board and staff support the naming of the park to be K9 Corral at Craig Ranch.

• On December 10, 2015, the PROS Board recommended to City Council to name the dog park at Craig Ranch “K9 Corral at Craig Ranch”.
