• The early voting schedule for the Election of November 8, 2022, has been revised since the original election order and will be conducted as follows:
Early Voting Schedule:
Monday, October 24 to Friday, October 28 8:00am to 5:00pm
Saturday, October 29 7:00am to 7:00pm
Sunday, October 30 11:00am to 5:00pm
Monday, October 31 to Friday, November 4 7:00am to 7:00pm
Saturday,, November 5 to Monday, November 7 no voting
Election Day Voting Schedule: Tuesday, November 8 7:00am to 7:00pm
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• An election will be held in accordance with the Texas Election Code to determine whether the “sale of all alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption only” shall be legalized in the city.
• The election will take place on November 8, 2022, according to election day and early voting schedules, locations, and other requirements as provided in the attached ordinance.
• On March 1, 2022, a petition for a local option election was certified as valid in accordance with the Texas Election Code, which prescribes that an election be held to determine the measure.
• On March 15, 2022, City Council ordered a Local Option Election, scheduled for November 8, 2022, for voters to determine whether to legalize the “sale of all alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption only.”
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• On September 9, 2022, City Council approved a Contract for Election Services with Collin County Elections Administration and a Joint Election Agreement with the various other governing bodies contracted under Collin County Election Administration to conduct an election on November 8, 2022.
• The estimated costs of the election which include a contract for election services, a joint election agreement, translation services, publication of legal notices, advertisements and other distribution of election information, is $165,000.
