RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approve the recommendation to City Council.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• George Webb Park is an 11 acre neighborhood park that will include a play structure, swings, musical stations, pavilions, a basketball court, trails, and also an interactive water pump that will be set as a part of a dry river bed feature.
• City staff worked with Studio Outside, LLC. a landscape architecture firm, on preparing the construction plans and specifications as needed for project bidding.
• Staff recommends awarding the construction bid to AUI Partners, LLC. in an amount of $2,160,000 and not to exceed $2,375,000 (includes construction contingency).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• A total of 6 bids were submitted and accepted on May 31, 2018.
• AUI Partners, LLC submitted the lowest bid for the construction.
• If approved, construction should begin in July of 2018 with a 240 day (8 month) contract schedule.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The George Webb Park Project (PK3224) is a FY17-18 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds and Parkland Dedication Funds Zone 3.
• The original project cost was estimated at $2,425,000. The actual project costs are $2,650,000 which includes all design and development costs and provides for a project contingency.
• The project was bid with 5 possible deduct alternates. The $2,650,000 allows for of the construction of the total base bid without taking any deduct alternates.
o Deduct Alt 1 - 15’x17’ Shade Pavilion near Millbend Road
o Deduct Alt 2 - Basketball Court
o Deduct Alt 3 - 60’x60’ Shade Structure over playground
o Deduct Alt 4 - 27’x27’ Shade Structure over playground
o Deduct Alt 5 - 24’x44’ Shade Pavilion near play area
• In a concurrent CIP Amendment, staff is requesting additional $225,000 from parkland dedication funds.
• Below is a breakdown showing the project budget ($2,650,000).
o Architectural and Engineering Design Fees $ 224,135
o Construction Contract $2,160,000
o 10% Construction Contract Contingency $ 215,000
o Estimated Materials Testing $ 35,000
o Project Contingency $ 15,865
