RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute an amendment to the architectural and engineering services contract to provide additional professional design services which include the addition of a drive lane, parking areas, site lighting, landscaping, detention pond and other associated items to complete such scope of work related to the expansion and renovation of the John and Judy Gay Library located at 6861 Eldorado Pkwy, McKinney, Texas 75070.
• Hidell and Associates Architects, Inc. submitted a proposal to provide the additional design services requested and related to the expansion and renovation of the John and Judy Gay Library for an amount of $48,975.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Hidell and Associates Architects, Inc. was previously approved to be the architect of record for the John and Judy Gay Library Expansion and Renovation project by the RFQ (request for qualifications) process in 17-37RFQ in 2017.
• Hidell and Associates Architects, Inc. is a professional architectural consulting firm based in Carrollton, Texas. The firm has been providing superior architectural design services for more than 50 years. They have designed more than 200 public libraries along with hundreds of other commercial and civic architectural projects.
• Previous City of McKinney experience also includes the Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library in downtown McKinney.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The Resolution authorizes amendments to the architectural and engineering services contract for professional design services for the proposed amount of $48,975 which is broken down into two categories: $43,475 and $5,500. These items can be further broken down as follows:
o Civil engineering $18,000; Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing $3,000;landscape $5,225; architectural $14,750; and site survey $2,500 totaling $43,475 which will come from available funds in PK1806; and,
o Topographic Survey (south of existing parking) $1,000; and Geothermal System investigation $4,500 totaling $5,500 which will come from previously approved and available funds in the contingency line item in LI1609.
