RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• Western Specialty Contractors of America (Western) has submitted a proposal to provide Design/Build Services for Phase 2A of the McKinney Silos Restoration Project (GR2109) in the amount of One Hundred Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($100,000.00).
• This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a Design/Build Services Amendment with Western to provide additional construction and engineering services and potential changes to that scope of services for Phase 2A of the McKinney Silos Restoration Project in an amount not to exceed $290,780.00 which includes a contingency of $17,000.00.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• On January 4, 2022, the City of McKinney authorized a contract for Design/Build Services in conjunction with the McKinney Silos Restoration Project (GR2109) and potential future changes to that scope of services with Western in association with JQ Engineering.
• Western has submitted a proposal in an amount not to exceed $100,000.00 to provide additional construction and engineering services to include demolition and removal of doghouse atop the silos and asbestos abatement on roof edge.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The total cost for silo restoration is currently estimated at $572,000. The resolution covers the cost for Phase 2A. Phase 2B will be handled via a separate resolution in the future.
• A companion budget amendment will add $100,000.00 in the Public Art Fund from Hotel/Motel Fund to accommodate the funding required for this phase of the project.
• Future agenda items will be presented for consideration and approval of Phase 2B in a change order to this contract for additional construction and engineering services.
