RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution establishes a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $3,942,217 proposed by BBC.
• This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract amendment with BBC, the Construction Manager at Risk for the Senior Recreation Center Renovation project (PK4394) located at 1400 S. College Street, McKinney, Texas.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The original agreement allowed for the GMP to be proposed after the completion of the design plans and bidding process.
• The construction documents were issued in December and have been advertised for bids by BBC; BBC has compiled the bids and submitted a final Guaranteed Maximum Price for approval.
• With this approval, BBC will be notified to begin construction in multiple phases with completion scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.
• Balfour Beatty Construction, LLC is ranked among the top general contractors in the nation. Regardless of project size, BBC offers a wide range of construction services and is one of the top general contractors in North Texas. They are a Dallas, Texas based firm and have successfully completed facility projects for the City of McKinney and other municipalities.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract amendment to the existing Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) services contract, for construction services with Balfour Beatty Construction for an amount not to exceed $3,942,217.
• A companion budget amendment ordinance being presented will amend the FY 2020-2024 Capital Improvement Program to provide additional funding for the Senior Recreation Center Renovation PK4394.
• With approval of this item and the companion agenda item, the total project budget remaining for the Senior Recreation Center Renovation Project (PK4394) will be $656,727.44.
BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
• Evaluation of existing facilities and master planning for the Senior Center was discussed at a recent Parks & Recreation Advisory Board meeting.
