RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Staff recommends approval of the proposed zoning request.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The City of McKinney is proposing to zone approximately 400 acres of land adjacent to and around the McKinney National Airport.
• In an associated item on tonight’s agenda, the subject property is being considered for annexation into the Corporate Limits of McKinney. Should the City Council take favorable action on the proposed annexation, the subject property will be subject to the McKinney Zoning Ordinance.
• Staff recommends that the subject property be zoned “AG” - Agricultural District, which is most conducive to the current state and activities on the subject property.
• The proposed “AG” - Agricultural District zoning is intended to be a temporary zoning district. At such time when the subject property (or portions thereof) is ready for development, rezoning of the property (or portions thereof) will likely be necessary for future consideration and action.
