BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

North Collin County Habitat for Humanity has been building homes for working, low-income families since its incorporation in 1992.

NCCHFH utilizes a two-pronged initiative for low-income families: construction of new homes and exterior home repairs.

Most of the homeowners served are seniors or disabled with both financial and housing needs.

To date, NCCHFH has completed 110 new homes and 138 home rehabs.  They estimate 248 families/992 people now live in solid, secure permanent housing as a result of NCCHFH programs.

NCCHFH offers a unique opportunity for McKinney residents and visitors to participate in improving the community.

McKinney neighborhoods impacted by NCCHFH’s A Brush with Kindness Program include La Loma, Rockwall, Lewisville and Mouzon.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

NCCHFH estimates total project cost to be $930,850.

Matching funds in the amount of $591,668 are available to assist with total project costs.

NCCHFH has indicated their funding plans include a pending request to City of McKinney CDBG, in the amount of $45,000 for additional support.

NCCHFH has additional funds pledged, pending or approved from state, nonprofit and for profit entities.

MCDC has a balance of $1,132,683 available to award for discretionary project grants.
