RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes a professional services contract to provide complete architectural and engineering services related to the master planning of the Public Works Facilities Site located at 1550 South College Street.
• The selected consultant team, Quorum Architects, Inc. (Quorum), submitted a proposal to provide professional architectural and engineering services for the master planning of the Public Works Facilities Site for $55,300.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Eight firms submitted Statements of Qualifications on January 7, 2016 and were evaluated by staff members of the McKinney Public Works and Parks and Recreation departments.
• From the eight firms that submitted, the evaluation team selected Quorum Architects, Inc. as the top ranked firm by a wide margin and determined that Quorum was the most qualified architectural and / or engineering firm to provide the requested professional services.
• Quorum Architects, Inc. is an award winning professional architectural consulting services firm based in Ft. Worth, Texas, that specializes in public architecture with an emphasis on public works projects.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Public Works Facility Project (FC1202) was funded in the FY14-15 Capital Improvements Program with $2,724,920 of general obligation bonds from the 2010 elections.
• The Resolution authorizes a professional services contract for architectural and engineering services, including potential changes to the scope of services, with Quorum Architects, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $63,500.
