RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes a professional services contract to provide complete architectural and engineering services related to the master planning and design and construction of Phase 3 of the Public Safety Building located at 2200 Taylor-Burk Drive.
• The selected consultant team, Brinkley, Sargent, Wiginton Architects (BSW), submitted a proposal to provide professional architectural and engineering services for the Phase 3 of the Public Safety Building for $679,125.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Nine firms submitted Statements of Qualifications on October 1, 2015 and were evaluated by members of the McKinney Police and Fire departments along with staff from the Development Services department.
• From the nine firms that submitted, the four highest ranked architectural and engineering teams were interviewed.
• After interviews, the firm of Brinkley, Sargent, Wiginton Architects was selected as the top ranking team.
• Brinkley, Sargent, Wiginton Architects is an award winning professional architectural consulting services firm based in Dallas, Texas that specializes in public architecture.
• Brinkley, Sargent, Wiginton Architects has performed successfully for the City of McKinney on several previous projects.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Public Safety Building Phase 3 (FC2229) was funded in the FY14-15 Capital Improvements Program with $7,350,000 of general obligation bonds from the 2006 and 2010 elections.
• The Resolution authorizes a professional services contract for architectural and engineering services, including potential changes to the scope of services, with Brinkley, Sargent, Wiginton Architects for an amount not to exceed $735,000.
