ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     General Election for Saturday, May 14, 2011, will be held to elect Council members for District 2, District 4, and one At-Large.

 

                     The Ordinance provides for the following:

o                     Date and hours of voting on election day: Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

o                     Early Voting Polling locations within the City of McKinney proposed this year are:

§                     McKinney Performing Arts Center

§                     Collin County Community College Central Park Campus

§                     Collin County Elections Office in McKinney

§                     Fire Station #5

o                     City and School District voters may vote at any of the additional Early Voting locations open under full contract services with the Collin County Elections Administration

o                     Election Day Polling Places proposed this year are:

                     City Hall

                     Burks Elementary School

                     Valley Creek Elementary School

                     Dowell Middle School

                     Collin County Community College, Central Park Campus

                     Scoggins Middle School

                     Fire Station #7

 

                     Early voting will be conducted as follows:

Monday, May 2                                           8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday, May 3                                           8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday, May 4                                           8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Thursday, May 5                                           8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Friday, May 6                                          8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Saturday, May 7                                           8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Monday, May 9                                           7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, May 10                                           7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

 

                     Proposed polling places for election day are:

o                     City Hall, 210 South McDonald Street for Precincts 2, 3, 4, 9, 45, 96, 98, 100, 114, 128, 160, 161

o                     Burks Elementary School, 1801 Hill Street for Precincts 1, 44, 57, 99

o                     Valley Creek Elementary School, 2800 Valley Creek Trail for Precincts 97, 102, 129, 157

o                     Scoggins Middle School, 7070 Stacy Road for Precincts 38, 126, 169

o                     Dowell Middle School, 301 East Ridge Road for Precincts 12, 122, 131, 140, 149, 155, 173

o                     Collin County Community College Central Park Campus, 2200 West University for Precincts 13, 16, 20, 43, 150

o                     Fire Station #7, 861 S. Independence Parkway for Precinct 163

 

                     Appointment of Sharon Rowe, Collin County Elections Administrator, as the Early Voting Clerk for the purpose of conducting early voting.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: The City’s cost for this Joint Election will be approximately $20,000. This cost is subject to change should any of the contracting entities cancel their election. The funds for this item will come from the General Fund Operating Contingency budget.
