RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution approves a list of qualified firms to provide professional landscape architectural services for the design of various parks, trails and/or public right of way improvements.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The City utilizes consultants to provide professional landscape architectural services for the design of parks, trails and/or public right of way improvements.
• The City issued a request for qualifications (16-50RFQ) for professional landscape architectural services on February 14, 2016.
• On March 3, 2016, sixteen (16) professional landscape architectural firms submitted statements of qualification in response to the RFQ.
• An evaluation team, comprised of three City employees, reviewed and ranked the statements of qualification based on the following criteria:
o Reference Letters
o Capacity to Perform Work
o Firm and Individual Qualifications
• Of the 16 firms that submitted statements of qualification, the following nine firms were determined the most qualified:
o David C. Baldwin, Inc.
o Dunaway Associates, L.P.
o Halff Associates, Inc.
o JBI Partners, Inc.
o Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc.
o la terra studio, inc.
o RVI Planning and Landscape Architecture
o Schrickel, Rollins and Associates, Inc.
o Studio Outside
• When professional landscape architectural services are required for a specific project, staff will interview one or more firms from this list to determine the most qualified firm for that specific project.
• A fee proposal will be negotiated with the most qualified firm in accordance with the professional services procedures provided by the approved City of McKinney Purchasing Policy.
• City Council authorization to enter into a contract with the selected firm will be required prior to execution.
• The firms listed herein will remain qualified for the design of parks, trails and/or right of way improvements for a period of three years.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Funding for individual contracts will be allocated through the City’s Capital Improvement Program budget.
• Contracts for the design of parks, trails and/or public right of way improvements will be prepared and executed in accordance with the City of McKinney Purchasing Policy.
