RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

                     Approval of the Ordinance

ITEM SUMMARY:

This Ordinance amends expenditures in the FY 2015-2016 Annual CIP Budget and the 2016 - 2020 Capital Improvements Program to accept funds from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in the amount of $44,567 and appropriating those funds into a new project TR1602 - Traffic Signalization of FM 546 at SH 5.

A new traffic signal was approved and will be constructed at the future intersection of Harry McKillop Boulevard (FM 546) and McDonald Street (SH 5).

TxDOT will reimburse the City 100% for the cost to purchase the traffic signal equipment up to $44,567 for this new traffic signal.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

A concurrent Resolution authorizes the Interim City Manager to enter into a Local Participation Advance Funding Agreement (LPAFA) with the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) to furnish traffic signal equipment for the signalization of Harry McKillop Boulevard (FM 546) and McDonald Street (SH 5) related to the construction of the new alignment of FM 546 (Harry McKillop Boulevard).

That Agreement provides that TxDOT will reimburse the City for $44,567.

This Ordinance amends the FY 2015-2016 annual budget to fund the upfront acquisition of the traffic signal equipment.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

The cost associated with the purchase of the traffic signal equipment will be reimbursed by the Texas Department of Transportation at the completion of the project. Therefore the City will need to cash flow the purchase until the payment is made.

The Amendment of the FY 2015-2016 annual CIP budget will create and fund a new project TR1602 in the amount of $44,567.
