ITEM SUMMARY:

This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a supplemental agreement with Kleinfelder, Inc. to provide additional materials testing services for the construction of the Wilmeth Road (Lake Forest Drive to Hardin Boulevard) Project (ST1719) for an increase in the not to exceed amount from $240,000 to a total aggregate contract amount, inclusive of any additional supplemental agreements, not to exceed $280,570.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Kleinfelder, Inc. is currently under contract with the City for materials testing services related to the Wilmeth Road (Lake Forest Drive to Hardin Boulevard) Project (ST1719) currently under construction.

Construction began in March 2022 and is expected to be completed by March 2025.

The initial budget estimate was developed based on assumptions made of required testing to complete the project.

As construction on the project has progressed, additional testing services have been requested due to adjusted phasing of construction that has led to an increased quantity of testing needs. Kleinfelder, Inc. has only performed observation and testing when scheduled and /or required by the City.

Kleinfelder, Inc. submitted an estimate of $40,570 for these additional services ($280,570 aggregate contract total), which has been reviewed by staff and exceeds the previously authorized not to exceed amount of $240,000.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

This Resolution authorizes a supplemental agreement with Kleinfelder, Inc. for an increase in the not to exceed contract amount from $240,000 to a total aggregate contract amount, inclusive of any additional supplemental agreements, not to exceed $280,570.

Funding for this supplemental agreement is included in the Capital Improvements Program (ST1719).

With the approval of this item, $195,507 will remain in ST1719.
