ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting funds in the amount of $1,000,000 for construction of various improvements at Gabe Nesbitt Park which include:

o                     Practice space for sports teams which includes irrigation and new sod

o                     Two monument signs at Alma and Eldorado entrances

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Gabe Nesbitt Park is part of the 10-year CIP and this project will provide much needed amenities and renovations to one of our busiest athletic complexes.

                     The Parks Master Plan, approved in 2017 and updated in 2022, identifies areas of deficit, provides a vision for addressing growth and provides a plan for immediate and long-term park, park facilities and trail improvement needs. 

                     The Parks Master Plan was utilized in identifying projects for this FY 24-25 grant application.  

                     The project promotes park developments that will enhance the quality of life for McKinney residents.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     If approved by the Board, this item will be funded from MCDC’s Community Grants budget.

                     The request is eligible for MCDC consideration under Section 505.152 of the Texas Local Government Code.
