RECOMMENDED ACTION:
• Recommend that City Council approve a resolution for construction.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The Finch Park phase 5 Improvement project includes a new expanded playground and splash pad area with a centralized pavilion, additional trails, entry signage, improved flat work and new landscaping.
• The project also includes 3 add alternates:
o Alternate 1: pickleball court
o Alternate 2: fitness court
o Alternate 3: bocce ball court with a seating area
• City staff worked with JBI Partners, a landscape architecture firm, on preparing the construction plans and specifications as needed for project bidding.
• Construction bids will be opening at 2:00 on September 9th. At the time of this agenda item preparation Staff does not know who the recommended contractor or what the associated contract price will be.
• This agenda item will authorize Staff to work with Purchasing on selecting a contractor and allow the recommendation to go to City Council on September 21.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The awarded contractor will be announced at our next park board meeting on October 14th 2021.
• If approved, construction should begin in October 2021 with a 205-day contract schedule.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The Finch Park Phase 5 Improvement Project (PK2039) is a FY20-21 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds and bond monies.
