RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Ordinance.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Ordinance will rename Sabinal Drive from Green Valley Drive to Headwater Drive within the Trinity Falls Municipal Utility District to Calhoun Cove.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Developer of the Trinity Falls Municipal Utility District has requested to rename Sabinal Drive to Calhoun Cove.
• Sabinal Drive is very similar to another street name within Trinity Falls, Sabine Drive, that residents have reported issues with Postal Service deliveries.
• Sabine Drive is a longer established roadway within Trinity Falls. The Developer chose to rename Sabinal Drive instead as homes are still being constructed on Sabinal Drive and will have an impact on a fewer number of established residents.
• The residents of the four homes that are occupied on Sabinal Drive have been informed of the pending change to the name of Sabinal Drive to Calhoun Cove.
• The renaming of Sabinal Drive to Calhoun Drive should eliminate any confusion with mail delivery and other service deliveries that have been encountered.
• Although the Trinity Falls Municipal Utility District is outside the corporate city limits, the Developer followed City of McKinney standards and sought approval of street names with the anticipation Trinity Falls will eventually become incorporated.
• Since Sabinal Drive has been filed by plat at Collin County it requires an Ordinance to change its name.
• City Staff will inform the Post Office and Emergency Services, and will insure that the Developer of the Trinity Falls Municipal District changes the street name signs to Calhoun Cove, and refiles the plat.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• There are no City of McKinney financial funds needed to complete this item.
