RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of the attached Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Wilson Creek Hike and Bike trail project extends the trail from the Wilson Creek Softball Complex to Eldorado Parkway which will eventually lead to the Heard Museum.

 

                     City staff worked with David C. Baldwin, Inc., a landscape architecture firm, preparing the construction plans and specifications as needed for project bidding.

 

                     The project was bid in a manner that fulfills our legal obligations.

 

                     A total of six (6) bids were submitted and accepted.

 

                     North Rock Construction submitted the lowest bid for the construction of the project for an amount of $676,692.15.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     David C. Baldwin, Inc. along with Staff support, recommends awarding the bid to North Rock Construction for the construction of the Wilson Creek Hike and Bike Trail project.

 

                     If approved, the contract allows for construction to begin in March 2017 with a July 2017 deadline for completion.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The Wilson Creek Hike and Bike Trail project (PK8062) is a FY16-17 Capital Improvements Project.

                     Preliminary estimated project design and development costs were budgeted at $886,700.

                     In a concurrent CIP Amendment, staff is requesting additional construction funds ($100,000) as needed to pay the full project costs.

BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:

                     On February 9, 2017, the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Advisory Board recommended to City Council the award of the construction contract for the Wilson Creek Hike and Bike Trail project to North Rock Construction as recommended.
