RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

                     Approval of Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:

This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a change order with Wilson Contractor Services, LLC for additional services for a revised contract amount not to exceed $815,000 for the construction of the Airport Sanitary Sewer - Phase II Project.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

TRC Solutions, Inc. designed the Airport Sanitary Sewer - Phase II Project.

This project eliminates the need for an old lift station located at the Collin County Regional Airport and will provide sewer service for future airport facilities.

The alignment of the proposed sanitary sewer line crosses the existing runway and the proposed replacement runway.   A portion of the project involves relocation of the sanitary sewer adjacent to Fire Station No. 4 to allow for future expansion of the hangars for the airport.

An increase in the contact amount is needed to address the following issues:

o                     The construction documents and available record drawings did not indicate the correct depth and alignment of an existing 12-inch water line near Fire Station No. 4.  The proposed sewer was therefore in conflict with the existing water line requiring the water line location to be adjusted.

o                     The connection of the proposed sewer line at the existing North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) sewer main needed to be revised based on the requirements provided by the NTMWD.

o                     An unanticipated layer of rock was encountered while boring under the existing runway.

These changes result in a cost increase in the amount of $63,997.59.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

  •                      This Resolution authorizes a contract with Wilson Contractor Services, LLC, for a revised contract amount not to exceed $815,000.
  • Funding for this change order is included in the Capital Improvements Program (WW2041).
