ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The McKinney Community Development Corporation will conduct a public hearing on a project grant application submitted by the Collin County History Museum to fund a statue of Private Jeff Morgan Tucker to be installed at the History Museum.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Support for McKinney entertainment, cultural and tourist facilities is a strategic priority for the MCDC board of directors.

                     The mission of the Collin County History Museum is to preserve and honor the past, connect with the present and embrace the future. The organization is committed to the collection and preservation  of the rich heritage and history of the people and events that helped shape McKinney

 

                     The museum is a Texas Historic Landmark and offers a unique destination for enjoyment of museum exhibits and the unique architecture and historical features of the building.

 

                     Professional quality exhibits at the museum promote tourism in McKinney and utilize historical assets from the museum collection coupled with technology tools that create and promote engaging and interactive experiences to tell the history of McKinney.

 

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

                     MCDC has allocated $1,530,105 for the discretionary project grant program in FY21.

                     The request is eligible for MCDC consideration under Section 505.152 of the Texas Local Government Code - Projects Related to Museums and Entertainment facilities.
