RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement with Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects, Inc. to provide architectural and engineering services in conjunction with the McKinney Senior Center Renovation & Expansion Project PK4394.
• The selected consultant team, Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects, Inc., submitted a proposal to provide architectural and engineering services in the amount of $179,294.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects, Inc. is a professional architectural consulting firm based in Dallas, Texas. The firm’s services include residential, commercial and civic architectural design. This firm brings a wealth of experience specializing in municipal facilities including city halls, public safety buildings, fire stations, senior centers, community centers and maintenance facilities.
• In developing the best procurement method for this project, the five A/E firms previously selected by the city through a request for qualifications (RFQ 18-16) process to provide on call services for the next few years were reviewed. Because of this firm’s previous experience with City of McKinney on Parks and Recreation projects, it was determined that the City is best served by the use of BSW on this project.
• The scope of work includes administration services, design services, construction procurement services and contract administration.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The McKinney Senior Center Renovation and Expansion project is a CIP project with funds available in PK4394.
• The Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement with Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects for the evaluation of the existing facility and a needs assessment for an amount not to exceed $199,294 which includes a contingency amount of $20,000.
• Upon approval of this agenda item, $1,102,649 will remain in project PK4394.
BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
• Evaluation of existing facilities and master planning for the Senior Center was discussed at a recent Parks & Recreation Advisory Board meeting.
