RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of the attached Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
· The Bonnie Wenk Park Phase I project will include a small and large dog park, restrooms, event lawn, outdoor stage next to the water's edge, hike and bike trails, parking and a park road.
· JC Commercial, Inc. submitted the lowest bid for the construction of the project for an amount not to exceed $4,312,777.00.
· A total of five bids were submitted and accepted.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· LanArc Design, Inc. with Staff support, recommends accepting the bid from JC Commercial, Inc. for the construction of the Bonnie Wenk Park Phase I project.
· The contractual completion stipulates April 2013.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
· The Bonnie Wenk Park Phase I project (PK5085) is a FY11-12 Capital Improvements project funded by Collin County Grants and MCDC funds.
· Additional funding is needed to complete the project as planned.
· In a concurrent Budget Amendment, Staff is requesting additional construction funds in the amount of $100,000 to be appropriated from Parkland Dedication Funds - Zone 3.
· Unencumbered project funds currently total $4,305,060.
· The total project funding including the design and construction of Phase I is $5,705,913. The expenditures to date are below:

BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
· On April 28, 2012, the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Advisory Board recommended the award of the construction contract for the Bonnie Wenk Park Phase I project to JC Commercial, Inc.
