RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:  Approval of Ordinance calling the June 13, 2015 Run-off Election.
 
ITEM SUMMARY:
  • A run-off election will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 to elect one Council member District 4 and one Council member At-Large.
  • Ordinance provides for the following:
¨      Date and hours of voting on election day:  Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
¨      Proposed dates and hours of voting during early voting:  
o      Monday, June 1, 2015 through Friday, June 5, 2015, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
o      Thursday, June 4, 2015, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
o      Monday, June 8, 2015 through Tuesday June 9, 2015, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
¨      Polling locations for early voting will be the same as utilized for the May 9, 2015 General Election:  
o      McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee
o      Collin County Elections Office, 2010 Redbud Boulevard, Suite 102
o      Fire Station #5, 6600 W. Virginia Parkway
¨      Polling places for election day will be the same as utilized for the May 9, 2015 General Election:  
o      John and Judy Gay Library, 6861 W. Eldorado Pkwy.
o      Slaughter Elementary School, 2706 Wolford Ave.
o      Fire Station #5, 6600 W. Virginia Parkway
o      City Hall, 222 N. Tennessee Street
¨      Method of voting:  Touch screen devices with Premier Election Systems ACCUVOTE TS R7 v.4.6.4 direct recording devices (DRE's) for early voting and election day and optical-scan ballots with Premier Election Systems ACCUVOTE OS ROM v.2.0.12 for early voting by mail.
¨      Canvass time and date:  Monday, June 22, 2015
¨      Appointment of Sharon Rowe, Collin County Elections Administrator, as the Early Voting Clerk for the purpose of conducting early voting.
 
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:  The cost for the Run-Off Election will be approximately $30,000 and will be paid out of contingency funds.
