RECOMMENDED ACTION:
• Approve the recommendation to City Council.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The Al Ruschhaupt Park Improvement project includes a new restroom facility with an attached plaza area and improved flat work with new landscaping.
o The restroom facility will be 1,200 sq in size with 4 sinks and 6 stalls each on the Men’s and Women’s side with a family restroom included.
o The restroom facility will also include a concession and storage area located on the North end of the facility.
o The facility will include a covered plaza with a stepped down terrace that will allow for movies in the park or team gatherings along with a patron viewing opportunity.
• City staff worked with Kimley - Horn and Associates, Inc. a landscape architecture firm, on preparing the construction plans and specifications as needed for project bidding.
• The project included a base bid and 1 add alternate:
o Alternate 1: Furnish and install wood decking in lieu of steel decking.
o Wood decking would be in lieu of steel decking based off a lead time of 30 weeks.
• Staff recommends awarding the construction bid to Construction Solutions USA, LLC in an amount of $1,213,632.35 not to exceed $1,325,632.35.
• Determination of the use of the add alternate will be discussed with the contractor as to the best route and lead times for materials and has been included in the contingency.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Construction Solutions USA, LLC was the lowest bid for this project.
• If approved, construction should begin in July 2021 with a 130-day contract schedule.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The Al Ruschhaupt Park Improvement Project (PK4392) is a FY20-21 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds and Parkland Dedication Funds Zone 3.
