* Approval of this Ordinance.
ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Ordinance removes the loading zone designation of a parking space on the south side of Louisiana Street immediately west of Kentucky Street.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Engineering Staff and Main Street Staff worked with the Downtown property owners and merchants to review and recommend possible changes to the loading zone locations within the downtown area.
* In December 2009, a loading zone was created per Ordinance 2009-12-081 on the south side of Louisiana Street within the first parking space, west of Kentucky Street per the request of the Downtown property owners and merchants.
* In November 2016, a request was received by the Downtown property owners and merchants requesting the removal of the said loading zone designation.
* Engineering Staff worked with Main Street Staff to circulate a petition amongst the Downtown property owners and merchants. The consensus was to remove the loading zone designation within the first parking space located on the south side of Louisiana Street, west of Kentucky Street making this parking space designated as 3-Hour Parking.
* The installation and removal of pavement markings in the City of McKinney is completed by A&M Striping Services. The change in the pavement markings will be completed as soon as this contractor is in town again.
