ITEM SUMMARY:
• The City of McKinney submitted a grant application, in the amount of $7,000,000, for the construction of publicly accessible open space development, to include courtyard and plaza, at the site of the planned City of McKinney Municipal Complex.
• This project will be funded using GO bonds, water/wastewater bonds, TIRZ 1 funds, ARPA funds and fund balances from various city resources.
• Design for this project is underway and expected completion of construction is Spring 2025.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Design and construction of a new City of McKinney Municipal Complex is planned for the intersection of Virginia and Throckmorton Streets.
• Plans include design, development and construction of a publicly accessible plaza and courtyard to provide a space for events and community gathering.
• The space will include stage, pavilion, lighting, event lawn, game lawn and other amenities for the public.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The request is eligible for MCDC consideration under Section 505.152 of the Texas Local Government Code.
