ITEM SUMMARY:

This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute an agreement with TxDOT to amend landscape maintenance responsibilities for US 75 and Virginia and US 75 and Hwy 380

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

McKinney received the Governor’s Community Achievement Award from Keep Texas Beautiful and TxDOT in 2016 and again in 2021 which includes $600,000 in funding for landscape enhancements along state right-of ways.

Awarded funds may only be used for landscape enhancements along state rights-of-ways. The City has identified areas along US 75 and Virginia and US 75 and Hwy 380 for landscape enhancements.

TxDOT is responsible for the design and installation of initial landscaping and the City is accountable for maintenance, replacement, and irrigation.

Funding agreement with TxDOT is not required, conversely an amended landscape maintenance agreement with TxDOT is required.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

Estimated $7,000 in annual maintenance costs to the City.
