RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the attached Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
* The Valley Creek Park Retaining Walls project was designed for public safety and with an interest in addressing the recreational needs of the neighborhood and adjacent school.
* The project scope includes the replacement of existing wooden retaining walls with a more durable and low maintenance concrete structure.
* These new structural concrete retaining walls will replace the existing, deteriorating, wooden railroad tie walls that currently retain the earth adjacent to the hike and bike trail that connects to the pedestrian tunnel under Eldorado Parkway located on the south edge of Valley Creek Park.
* In addition to the wall replacement, the project includes replacement of the existing trail surface as needed to comply with ADA standards.
* This project was let on March 8, 2015. Six bids were received and accepted on March 26, 2015.
* 2L Construction, LLC, submitted the lowest total bid of $286,345.00.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The City's structural engineering consultant, Halff Associates, Inc., and City staff recommends awarding the construction contract for the Valley Creek Park Retaining Walls project to 2L Construction, LLC.
* If approved, the contract allows for construction to begin in May 2015 with a September 2015 deadline for project completion.
