ITEM SUMMARY:

                     Every year cities nation-wide, both large and small, observe a week as National Public Works Week (NPWW) to honor the work which their Public Works Department has accomplished during the past year. For 2011, that week is May 15 - May 21. NPWW emphasizes the importance of public works in community life and seeks to enhance the prestige of the often unsung heroes of our society - the professionals who serve the public good every day with quiet dedication.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

                     National Public Works Week is an opportunity to recognize locally the 120 employees of the Public Works Department who provide and maintain the infrastructure and vital services of the City of McKinney which all of its citizens enjoy and expect.
