ITEM SUMMARY:
• Kiwanis Club of McKinney is requesting a grant in the amount of $5,000 for advertising, marketing and promotion of the 2018 Historic McKinney Triathlon; Duathlon and 5K; and Kids Triathlon.
• The events will be held April 22, 2018.
• Target participation number is 400 for the triathlon and 250 for the youth event and 100 for a new Duathlon and 5K run.
• In 2017, 72% of participants came from outside of McKinney.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Kiwanis Club of McKinney is a nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 18 is $150,000, $75,000 for Cycle I applicants, and $75,000 for Cycle II applicants.
• MCDC granted Kiwanis Club of McKinney a grant in the amount of $3,525 for promotion of the 2017 Historic McKinney Triathlon and Kids Triathlon.
• Kiwanis has also submitted a grant request to the McKinney Convention and Visitors Bureau for support for the Historic Triathlon and Kids Triathlon events.
