RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
·      Approval of the Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
·      This Resolution amends the current Guidelines and Procedures for Naming Municipal Facilities by allowing individuals who are living to be included as candidates for naming municipal facilities.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
·      This Policy establishes guidelines for naming new municipal facilities.
·      Historically, facilities have been named after deceased members of the community who have made significant contributions to the City based upon excellence or duration of commitment.

·      The current Policy only allows deceased members of the community to be considered as candidates for naming municipal facilities.

·      This policy change would allow those individuals who are living to also be considered which would allow direct recognition of their contributions.

·      This proposed change also includes provisions to exclude individuals who are currently serving in an elected or appointed capacity in either the City of McKinney or Collin County.  It also excludes individuals currently employed by the City of McKinney or Collin County.

·      Attached is a redline copy of the Policy showing the proposed changes.
