ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes a contract with Lee Engineering to provide professional engineering services to design new traffic signals at the following locations:
o Westridge Boulevard and Independence Boulevard
o Custer Road and Silverado Trail
o Ridge Road and Habersham Way
o Hardin Boulevard and Winding Brook Drive
* The contract will also include modification to the signal design at Craig Ranch Parkway and SH 121. The design services will be completed for an amount not to exceed $95,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Staff monitors traffic volumes at intersections throughout the City. The intersections identified have been determined to meet the requirements of traffic signal warrants.
* Lee Engineering submitted a response to RFQ 14-31 for Traffic Engineering Services. They were one of five firms shortlisted by City Council on August 4, 2014.
* Lee Engineering submitted a proposal for this project in the amount of $84,465. Their scope includes the following elements:
o Design of four new traffic signals, modification to one existing traffic signal;
o Preparation of a complete bid package, including plans, specifications, and contract documents;
o Bid phase assistance to the City; and
o Construction phase assistance to the City.
* The preliminary opinion of probable construction cost is $1,100,000.
