RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
· The unit will be compliant with the current NFPA Standard. It currently only meets the 2001 Standard.
· The Quint was purchased in 2001 for $ 743,508.17 and was estimated to have a 10 year service life and it was scheduled to be replaced in 2011.
· The current cost to replace this unit is $954,774.00.
· The City has received a quote from E-One the original Manufacturer to refurbish the unit at a cost not to exceed $500,000.00.
· The replacement cost and current economic conditions has provided an opportunity to look into alternate solutions.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· Quints are on a 10 (10) year replacement schedule.
· This unit was scheduled for replacement in FY1011 budget.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
· Upon City Council approval, staff will make necessary budget transfers within existing appropriations.
