RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Resolution awards contracts to NT Communications and Network Cabling Services to provide data cabling services and related products to the City of McKinney on an as needed basis.
· Contracts shall commence on date of award and continue for three (3) years with two (2) one (1)-year renewal options.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· The City of McKinney issued an invitation to bid (13-02SC) for data cabling services and related products, in December 2012.
· Bid opening of 13-02SC was held on January 10, 2013.
· Total of four (4) bids were received.
· A committee of three staff members from the Engineering and Information Technology departments reviewed and ranked the bids based on the following criteria:
o Labor Rates
o Material Markup
o Reputation of the bidder and of the bidder's goods and/or services
o Response Time
· Of the four (4) firms that submitted bids, the following two (2) are recommended as the best value:
o NT Communications of Van Alstyne, TX as primary vendor
o Network Cabling Services of Richardson, TX as secondary vendor
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
· Funding is available in various City accounts and will be used as needed for the jobs that may arise during this contract period.
