RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the Ordinance.
ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Ordinance will accomplish the following:
* Establish the reduced speed school zones and crosswalks for Reeves Elementary School.
* Remove the reduced speed school zone on Wilmeth Road at Sunnyside Drive.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The Prosper Independent School District has constructed a new elementary school within the Auburn Hills neighborhood. The name of the new school is Reeves Elementary School.
* The locations of the proposed reduced speed school zones along Auburn Hills Parkway for Reeves Elementary School are shown on the attached exhibit.
* The crosswalks shown on the attached exhibit are the locations where adult crossing guards will be positioned in accordance with our crossing guard criteria.
* The school zone time periods will be consistent with the Prosper ISD school schedule.
* With the construction of Reeves Elementary School, the attendance boundaries for Baker Elementary School have been modified. The students residing within the Summit View Lake neighborhood will attend Reeves Elementary School, eliminating the need to cross Wilmeth Road.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
* Funds for the crossing guards are available in the operating budget of the Engineering Department.
