RECOMMENDED ACTION:
* Approval of the proposed Gabe Nesbitt Community Park Master Plan.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* With the new additions of the PSA facility and the McKinney Aquatics and Fitness Center there is a need to update the master plan of Gabe Nesbitt Community Park.

* The master plan update is intended to provide guidance for future projects within the park.

* This plan update addresses:

o Additional parking and roadway expansion necessary to support current and future expansion to the facilities.
o An internal trail system allowing pedestrian connectivity throughout the site.
o The Library expansion and impact to the park.
o The Courts Tennis Center expansion including additional courts and stadium court allowing for more tournaments and added revenue.
o Additional park amenities such as gathering spaces, playgrounds, open space, practice areas, locations for public art, etc.
o Enhanced landscaping at entrances and throughout the park for site branding, wayfinding, and added screening.

* Staff anticipates bringing this plan to the City Council for approval at their October 20th meeting.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* RVI/NJB is under contract for design services in the amount of $49,900.

* A series of public meetings and stakeholder meetings have been held as part of the information gathering process. Valuable input was received from the public, adjacent residents, users of the park, Staff, City Council, the Park, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Board and the McKinney Community Development Corporation (MCDC).
