RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes a contract with ARC Abatement 1 for demolition of the structures at the Westwood Apartment Complex located at 1620 Virginia Street, for an amount not to exceed $360,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The City of McKinney has determined that the structures within the Westwood Apartment Complex are not suitable for habitation.
• Code Compliance staff has attempted to get the property owner to correct the deficiencies; however, the property owner has not complied with their directives and the structures continue to be a nuisance.
• In December 2010, 21 proposals were received from contractors for the demolition of the structures.
• ARC Abatement 1 submitted the lowest bid and was determined to be the top ranked firm with a bid in the amount of $343,343.
• The bid specifications indicate the bids were valid for 60 days; however, ARC Abatement 1 has stated they will continue to honor their bid.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Funding for this contract is available in the General Fund in the operating contingency account.
• The Resolution authorizes a contract with ARC Abatement 1 for an amount not to exceed $360,000.
