RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approve the Ordinance.
ITEM SUMMARY:
* At the February 23, 2015 City Council Work Session, Council discussed and considered the potential need for a 10-Year Update to the Comprehensive Plan. Following this supportive discussion by the Council, Staff moved forward with a formal RFQ process and project approach for a Comprehensive Plan Update.
* Through the formal RFQ process, Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. was selected as the most qualified firm to complete the 2015 Comprehensive Plan 10-Year Update.
* Staff has reached an agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. on professional services in support of the Comprehensive Plan Update.
* In an associated item on tonight's agenda, Staff is requesting approval to execute a Professional Services Contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for professional services in support of the 2015 Comprehensive Plan 10-Year Update in an amount not to exceed $648,400.
* Staff estimates that additional City Expenses and Project Contingencies in the amount of $50,000 will be needed to help carry out the professional, technical, support, outreach, and marketing activities necessary to complete a successful Comprehensive Plan process.
