ITEM SUMMARY:

- The Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) has presented the "Certificate of Achievement for Planning Excellence" to the City of McKinney.
- This award recognizes the professional planning standards demonstrated by our planning staff and the funding and support exhibited by the City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission.

- In order to receive this award, a city must meet the APA Chapter goals for:
- Increasing awareness of professional planning;
- Enhancing neighborhood and citizen recognition of planning efforts;
- Encouraging the funding of professional training for commissioners and staff; and
- Aiding economic development and community image.
- The City of McKinney has received this recognition twelve (12) of the past thirteen (13) years.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· Each year about 8-10 communities receive this award.
