ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes a contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., to provide traffic engineering services for the analysis of the traffic signals at US 380 and US 75 for an amount not to exceed $25,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* During the initial development of the McKinney Towne Crossing shopping center (located on the northwest quadrant of the US 75 and US 380 interchange) in 2007, the owners requested a traffic signal to be installed on US 380 at their main driveway, Drive B.
* Due to the pending reconstruction of the US 75 and US 380 interchange, TxDOT denied the request for a signal at Drive B, but granted a temporary signal at the site's far western drive, Drive D.
* Now that construction has been completed at the US 75 and US 380 interchange the owners of the McKinney Towne Crossing shopping center and the Cameron Crossing shopping center, located on the south side of US 380 at this interchange, have requested that the temporary signal at Drive D be moved to Drive B.
* Because the Drive B is located less than 500 feet from the US 75 and US 380 interchange, both TxDOT and City staff have reservations about moving the traffic signal to Drive B.
* Keeping the existing signal at Drive D is also a concern due to traffic operations on site of the Cameron Crossing shopping center.
