ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Ordinance will accomplish the following:
o Establish the reduced school speed limit zones and crosswalks for the new school opening in Frisco ISD for the 2014-2015 school year: Scott Elementary School
o Modify the school zones and crosswalks for Mooneyham Elementary School to reflect the changes with the school attendance boundaries.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· For the upcoming school year, Frisco ISD will open Scott Elementary School on Millbend Drive at Eden Drive.
· The effective times for the reduced school speed limit zones are established as follows:
o Morning school zones begin 45 minutes before the beginning of the start of school for the day and end 15 minutes after arrival time.
o Afternoon school zones begin 15 minutes before the end of the end of school for the day and end 45 minutes after dismissal time.
· The school time periods will be consistent with the Frisco ISD schedule.
· The location of the proposed reduced school speed limit zones and crosswalks for Scott Elementary School is shown on the attached exhibit.
· The attendance boundaries for Mooneyham Elementary School have been adjusted allowing the reduced school speed limit zone and school crosswalk on Westridge Boulevard at Eden Drive to be removed.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
· Funds for this item are available in the operating budget of the Utilities, Infrastructure and Public Works Department.
