* Approval of Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes a contract with Nathan D. Maier Consulting Engineers, Inc. (NDM) to provide consulting engineering services for the evaluation of the existing bridge and adjacent roadway on Stonebridge Drive across Rowlett Creek for an amount not to exceed $49,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The City's Public Works Department has experienced ongoing maintenance issues with this bridge and the adjacent street pavement since 2000. Previous attempts by the City to mitigate these issues have been of limited success and have only temporarily stabilized the area.
* In an effort to address this situation and evaluate the bridge, City staff is seeking the services of Nathan D. Maier Consulting Engineers, Inc. (NDM).
* NDM submitted a response to RFQ 13-08 for Major Roadway Design, RFQ 13-09 for Minor Roadway Design, and RFQ 13-11 for Minor Utility Design. They were shortlisted in all three categories by City Council on February 5, 2013.
* NDM was instrumental in addressing construction issues on the City's Hardin Boulevard bridge over Wilson Creek and later provided their services in addressing various issues on the Ridge Road bridge over Normandy Creek. Additionally, the Stonebridge Drive bridge is of a similar design as the Ridge Road Bridge so NDM is already familiar with it.
