RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION: Appoint a member to the North Central Texas Workforce Development Board for a term effective now until September 30, 2024
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The term for current member Rolanda Macharia expired September 20, 2021; therefore, the Council may reappoint Mrs. Macharia or appoint a replacing member to serve.
• Mrs. Macharia was nominated for reappointment by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce and is the only individual to receive a nomination.
• Confirmation of the appointment must be submitted to the Workforce using the attached Form H-400
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The North Central Texas Workforce Development Board is one of 28 Workforce Development boards in the State of Texas and is one of the larger boards in Texas. It oversees the planning, oversight, policy guidance and design of services in twelve (12) Texas Workforce Centers located across the 14-county workforce development area.
• Because businesses are the driving force within the economy, the Board is comprised largely of private business leaders. However, the Board also includes representatives from the other key partners within the workforce system: economic development entities, chambers of commerce, labor, and education and community organizations.
• The Workforce Development Board meets bi-monthly.
