RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Resolution authorizes a contract change order with UtiliTex Construction, LLP, for the construction of a water main along the east right-of-way line of US 75 between Gateway Boulevard and Market Place Drive.
· This change order does not increase the not to exceed amount previously authorized by Council. Change orders for amounts exceeding $50,000 need specific authorization by City Council.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· The US 75 utility relocation project originally included the construction of the water main along the east right-of-way of US 75 between Gateway Boulevard and Market Place Drive.
· During the design of the project, the water main along the east side of US 75 between Gateway Boulevard and Market Place Drive was eliminated from the construction plans to avoid a delay in the relocation of other utilities in the corridor that were in conflict with TxDOT’s project.
· At that time, the ownership of the property southeast of the intersection of Market Place Drive had not been finalized, resulting in uncertainty regarding our ability to obtain an easement for the water main.
· Because this water main was not necessary for the TxDOT project, it was removed from the bidding documents and not included in the contract.
· At this time, the development of the tract of land at the southeast corner of the intersection of US 75 and Market Place Drive requires the line to be constructed as originally contemplated.
